with Laura teasdale

For Ages 8-16
July 4th, 2019
9:00 am- 4:00 pm
Participants are invited to display their work on July 24th at the Bauer Theatre in a designated showing space: time TBD

Part one: writing games and exercises to explore all different types of writing, from short story to poetry to biography and beyond.  participants will be told the story of the U.N. Declaration of The Rights of The Child and introduced to its 12 core principals.

Part two: the kids will immerse themselves in the visual aspect.  How do artists illustrate graphic novels and comics?  What are the various ways they use art to tell the story? They will get to go from pencils to plasticine.

Part three: time and guidance to create their graphic novel/comic.  They can choose one of the 12 core rights of the child that speaks to them personally.  Using that as a prompt, they will write a text in the genre of creative writing that appealed to them and illustrate in the visual art style they most enjoyed.
