Youth Classes and workshops

If your child does not fit in the age categories, you are in need of financial assistance, or have any other concerns inhibiting you from registering please let us know what course they are interested in and we can work to accommodate you. We want all people to have the chance to experience art. Please note paying registration fees in installments is possible, please ask for details.

Content Creation for online Platforms: Using Media for good

Learn how to create content for your YouTube Channel, Instagram, Snapchat, and more. This workshop includes lighting, sounds basics, editing, thumbnails, growing a following and dealing with internet trolls. Students are recommended to bring their own recording device (phone, tablet, etc). If necessary we can arrange to provide recording devices for students who wish to participate but can’t bring their own.

graphic novel workshop: If You Could Wear My Sneakers

Participants are invited to display their work on July 24th at the Bauer Theatre in a designated showing space: time TBD

Part one: writing games and exercises to explore all different types of writing, from short story to poetry to biography and beyond.  participants will be told the story of the U.N. Declaration of The Rights of The Child and introduced to its 12 core principals.

Part two: the kids will immerse themselves in the visual aspect.  How do artists illustrate graphic novels and comics?  What are the various ways they use art to tell the story? They will get to go from pencils to plasticine.

Part three: time and guidance to create their graphic novel/comic.  They can choose one of the 12 core rights of the child that speaks to them personally.  Using that as a prompt, they will write a text in the genre of creative writing that appealed to them and illustrate in the visual art style they most enjoyed.
